Nantucket, MA

Greater Light was originally built around 1790 and used as a livestock barn until sisters, Gertrude and Hanna Monaghan discovered the building in 1929 and transformed it into their summer retreat. As a sponsor of Nantucket by Design, we were asked to recreate the space for a Work/Shop event as if the sisters were living there today. We blended art and whimsy with an appreciation of the handcrafted – whether woven, carved, forged, or painted – to create a strongly expressive environment that we believe would be well suited to their tastes.
